About Information Session
Design is strongly connected to the future. Its vision and methodology are imbued with questions, ideas, possible perspectives – all working together as a reference point to conceive something that currently doesn’t exist. In the last 50 years IED experienced those big “makeovers” that took place in our cities and environments, speaking of shapes as well as people’s experiences.
At the same time IED has actively contributed in setting our society, designing new lifestyles, objects, images, spaces and processes.
Nowadays IED – in its different locations – rises as a global network, able to read and organize in the face of the complex nature of these times.
This competency doesn’t consist in eye-catching gestures but in a careful observation of present times, paying attention to the continuos changes happening in the ways we think, build and communicate.
That being the case, education and design languages processes represent an opportunity to approach a more conscious future.
About Speaker
Arch. Marzia Lodi
Academic Coordinator – Visual Art, Events & PR @IED Florence
After graduating in Architecture at the University of Florence, she founded the Cultural Association MKN with the purpose of creating and defining new cultural spaces. From the events production to the expressions of visual languages, she constantly challenges the concept of communication that define the multiple elements of contemporary culture.
She has organized many events including the MUV Music and Digital Arts Festival. She has
Worked with the Festival of Creativity as Coordinator of Cultural Projects
(Arsenale Armi di Comunicazione di Massa “Weapons Arsenal of Mass Communication” 2008 and the interaction design project My City, New Media, New Cities 2009; “Officina Creativa@Le Murate” 2010).
From the 2009 she is working at IED-Istituto Europeo di Design in Florence as Dean of the Visual Arts Department and since 2016 as Academic Coordinator.
